 Barney
Connaughton is a family lawyer and mediator who has been practicing Family Law in Chula
Vista and San Diego, California, since 1993. His practice includes representing clients in
contested traditional divorce cases, representation in collaborative cases, and serving as
a Mediator in mediated cases. He is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Group of San
Diego and is co-chair of the group's education committee. He is a member of the
International Academy of Collaborative Practitioners and is Vice President of the San
Diego Family Law Council for Children dedicated to educating and providing resources for
the protection of children in divorce. He is a member of the San Diego County Bar
Association, Family Law Section and serves as a Family Law Settlement Judge for the South
Bay branch of the San Diego Superior Court.
His practice focuses on providing client's
options so they can divorce in a healthy way. Whether it be by mediation, collaboration or
taking a problem solving approach with contested cases, he seeks to balance advocating for
the client with sensibly resolving dispute.
